Situation – Adele has met her ex-boyfriend in the street

Adele… What are you doing here?

A: Your married now

B:  I couldn’t stay away

C: Hide from the light

D: I didn’t give to you

Best Answer

B: I couldn’t stay away

The question mentions location here, the response refers to being away . I heard your married now also makes sense but is not a direct response to the question.

We aren’t together anymore. I have moved on. Why have you come to talk?

A: For me it isn’t over

B: Ain’t like you to hold back

C: I’ll find someone like you

D: Guess she gave you things I didn’t give to you

Best answer

A: For me it isn’t over

The ex-boyfriend has made it clear that he is not interested in Adele. He asks why. The clearest response is because Adele is not over it. The other responses could be used though are not directly related to the question.
Conversations are complex and can take different directions. Try the different responses in the flipboxes. Think about what you would say next after each response.

Hi Adele. Nice to see you.

Response A

I heard that you’re settled down That you found a girl and you’re married now.
Yes. We have been really happy. How are you?

Response B

Guess she gave you things I didn’t give to you.
Well she did and we are done so leave me alone.
